Our Practice in Eagle Mountain

Dr. Tyler Barney grew up in the small southern Utah town of Hatch, before attending Southern Utah University. He then attended Pacific University College of Optometry where he received a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and graduated with honors with a Doctorate of Optometry.

He gained advanced training in Oregon as an intern at the Teplick Laser Surgery Centers in Beaverton and the Pediatric Strabismus Referral Center in Portland. And, he continued that training in Utah at the Moran Eye Center in SLC, the SLC Veterans Hospital, and the Eye Foundation.

During this training, he gained experience in primary eye care, diabetic and ocular surgery co-management, and glaucoma treatment. He was awarded a Health Professions Scholarship from the United States Air Force and served as Chief of Optometry Services at a pilot training base in Enid, OK, for 3 years.

Dr. Barney and his wife Kristen are the proud parents of 6 children and currently reside in Eagle Mountain. In his free time, Dr. Barney loves being outdoors with his family, camping, hiking, or fishing.

Dr. Jason Peterson was raised in Plain City, Utah where he attended Fremont High School. After receiving his bachelor’s degree with a major in Biology and minor in Spanish from Utah State University, he attended Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon.

There, he graduated with honors to earn his Doctorate of Optometry. Dr. Peterson gained valuable training as an intern at the SLC Veterans Hospital in Utah, Pacific University clinics in Oregon, Indian Health Service in Fort Hall Idaho, and the Utah Eye Centers in Ogden and Bountiful.

In addition to primary eye care, these experiences have prepared him to manage eye emergencies and ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, and keratoconus. He has also enjoyed the opportunity to practice his Spanish, and is easily able to communicate with those who speak it.

Dr. Peterson loves spending time with his wife Kelli and their two children. They love frequenting local snow cone shacks and movie theaters, and spending time outdoors golfing, skiing, hiking, and barbecuing.

Our practice is bilingual! Dr. Peterson would be happy to serve your family in either English or Spanish.

Necia joined the Eagle Vision team in September 2016. Originally from Utah, she has recently returned after living in Nevada and Illinois. She has had an interest in the medical field since high school, taking many anatomy classes and working in multiple healthcare clinics and doing medical billing. She is married and has 6 kids.

Following the birth of her daughter who was born with a rare condition, Necia has become an advocate and established a non-profit organization, Heterotaxy Connection, to help families affected by the same thing. She volunteers with the Genetic Disorders of Mucociliary Clearance Consortium which is part of the Office of Rare Disease Research at the National Institute of Health. She is passionate about helping those facing serious medical challenges. In her spare time, she loves to read, craft, and introduce her kids to this amazing state we live in.

Rachel Rasmusen started with our team in 2019. She graduated from Idaho State University with a degree in dental technology. Rachel is our optical manager and benefits us with her attention to detail and organizational skills.

She is a weekend warrior going on many adventures with her family. They love taking in the natural beauty of Utah.
